Parts and Parts Guys

I promised I'd write about the parts dealers, and shops, and manufacturers I've dealt with, working on the FXR. Well, here's some skinny on a couple of good ones.

Most of the parts on the bike come from Dave Frank's "The Bike Shop" (888)744-0125 (toll free) in Salem, MA, where Dave has been dealing Harley parts for many years. He ships, too; so even if you don't live near here, give him a call.

Dave has been just about tireless in chasing down stuff that I find on the Web, the 'net, magazines, and flyers from all kinds of companies. Even the weird stuff, like the V-Thunder motor mounts and stabilizers I want to try out. He spent over an hour, tracking down sources for those; and another hour trying to deal with Corbin about a saddle for me. (More about that episode, later...)

Oh, and that isn't Dave, in the picture. He didn't want to stand still long enough for me to shoot his pic, so he had his henchman (Paul) stand in for him!

Machining work on the FXR (this winter) will be done by Mike at C&C Motorcycle Center, Inc. (518)357-2532 in Schenectady, NY. He ships, too. Mike has been machining Harley parts and building custom big bore and stroker engines, for years. In fact, many of the Harley dealers in the upstate New York area use Mike to do their machining. I've seen some of his work, and it's very nicely done. The man takes pride in his work.

If you call either of these very excellent guys, you'll get great service, and fair prices. And you can tell 'em "Doc" sent ya!
